On the Runway and Off-the Runway, these are some of my favorite fashion looks (and how to get them)
In this post I will be sharing some of my favorite fashion in both runway trends and street style looks. I have a new affiliation with The RealReal – a web site that has been my secret weapon to owning designer goods for a lesser price for at least the past three to four years.
The affiliation means that this post contains affiliate links from The RealReal; I will receive a small compensation if you make a purchase after clicking any of the links. As always, all opinions are my own. I will only ever affiliate with businesses that I already use and want to share with my clients. In this case, I introduce you to The RealReal.
I’m sharing my secret to where I get my designer pieces without paying a fortune…The RealReal is my go-to site for purchasing designer clothes, bags, shoes, and jewels – and paying far less than retail. Want to do some shopping? Click any of these links to check out the wonderful world of designer goods…this is where I have purchased all but one pair of my Louboutins, my Chanel pearl necklace, Tom Ford shoes, a vintage Chanel Première Watch…I better stop listing things before my husband starts counting. But seriously, my first purchase was in 2013 and I bought a pair of Burberry sandals and a Jimmy Choo mirror clutch. And from there, its been true love. Now, on to Fashion Week…
Popsugar perfectly sums up my fascination with fashion week:
At Fashion Week, we come for the runway and stay for the street style.
Come for the RUNWAY…
Here is a breakdown of the Runway categories that I have enjoyed the most:
The New Equestrian: Equine-influence has been in style for a while – both in fashion and in interiors. In an analogy, Calvin Klein made a switch from the proper eastern saddle to the western saddle with cowboy-inspired looks as he gives us a new take on the old equestrian style. These styles include:
- Leather Vests
- Boiler Suits
- Steel-toed Boots
- Waist-Cinching Belt Buckles: (click HERE to view the HERMÈS ETRIVIÈRE wide waist belt as shown to the right)
Formal Velvet: I am “crushing” on velvet and was thrilled to see that it will be around for Fall 2017. This time it will be less girly and romantic and more formal with hues of jewel tones. Check out the Red Velvet Dress below!
The POWER of RED: If you haven’t already read my post on the psychology of color – why women who wear red are deemed more attractive, more confident, and more powerful – then I encourage you to check it out by clicking HERE. All shades of red are included in this punchy statement. Red is a bold hue that will stand out and will be a must-have for Fall 2017 – and, in my opinion, starting now. …Stay for the STREET STYLE
Show-goers and fashion influencers provide their own show, putting personal style and the season’s biggest trends on display while attending every runway show. For them, the streets are their own personal runway where fashion statements are made. The dedication to street style is so intense that they usually change outfits multiple times a day.
As if to put this dedication to the ultimate test, New York City was covered with snow the first major day of NYFW. The show-goers, influencers, and fashion bloggers alike took on the challenge and showed up in some major street style that was nothing if not on point. The influencers proved that snow and freezing rain cannot stop street style fashion – the cool and colorful outerwear, the next-level accessories (hello, statement earrings!), and the fabulous utilitarian-yet-fashionable shoes are just a few examples of what we have seen so far.
Off-the-Runway Trends I am Loving:
- Vibrant Colors
- Metallic Touches and Neon Pops
- All Things Pink
- Top Coats and Long Coats
- Fur
- Statement Earrings

Love the fashion outlook ahead! Most of the time I can’t ever see myself in anything that his fashion week but all your selections look beautiful! I too, am also excited about velvet jewel tones this fall!
Thanks!! I am happy that more designers are showing closer to ready-to-wear clothing now – it makes it more approachable!
Love the fashion! I wish I could order from those types of sites but I need to be able to see my clothes in person.
Most of my purchases have been shoes, jewelry, and handbags. I do have a few articles of clothing from The RealReal..they have a great return policy, too.
I will definitely need to check this site out!!! Thanks for sharing it!
It is my absolute favorite. Going to warn you, it is slightly addicting…
I love “The power of Red” theme! Enjoy fashion week!
Thanks!! I love the power of red theme, too!
I am also loving metallic touches and neon pops….It’s always fun to introduce little pops of color in to your wardrobe! I had no idea that wearing red has so many meanings, but I find that very interesting. I always find it neat to see how what we wear relates to peoples perception of us.
I know! I find the psychology of color and the way we dress so interesting – how it affects the subconscious, etc. This is something I am looking forward to diving into!
